The Japan Meteorological Agency said Monday that Japan recorded its hottest September since it began recording weather data in 1898, reaching a record monthly temperature for the past three months.
The average temperature in September was 2.66 degrees Celsius above the overall average monthly temperature recorded from 1991 to 2020, surpassing the previous record set in 2012, when temperatures rose 1.51 degrees above average. Also, the agency noted that this year's spring and summer were the hottest on record. In the coming months, unfortunately, we should not expect the cooler weather to arrive: high temperatures will persist even in the winter period, until February.
