Halloween has become a real trend for Japan over the past ten years. This holiday has brought with it many foreign traditions such as trick-or-treating, parades and costumes. The Halloween celebrations in Tokyo start well before October 31: there is fun to be had almost every weekend throughout October! We are happy to share with you some of the most exciting events during this period.
- Omotesando Halloween Pumpkin Parade (October 29, Omotesando)
This event attracts more than a thousand participants every year, oriented mainly for children. The parade is open only to children under the age of 12, together with their parents/guardians: children can receive treats and some stores and restaurants offer discounts for costumed participants.
You must register in advance to participate and the participation fee is 1,000 yen for each child, including guardian.
- Ikebukuro Halloween and Cosplay Festival (October 28-29, Ikebukuro Central Park)
Halloween in Ikebukuro is a great time to dress up. However, don't expect a lot of monsters, as this event is geared more towards otaku than a traditional Halloween with monsters. The center of this festival is a nearby park by the Sunshine City Shopping Center.
- Tokyo Disneyland
The Happiest Place on Earth has been transformed into a mysterious and enigmatic haven with parades, themed food and souvenirs, and special decorations at both parks. What makes this seasonal event special compared to other times of the year? The fact that now you can finally dress up as your favorite character from the world of Disney and enjoy this time.
