The state of emergency in Tokyo was lifted 2 weeks ago, but there are still media calls to visit crowded places as little as possible, wear a mask and avoid enclosed spaces.
According to the results of a survey conducted by specialists from the University of Tsukuba, elderly people began to complain more often about poor health. Among the main reasons is a decrease in motor activity. Only 1 out of 5 respondents aged 70 and older leaves the house only once a week.
Also, elderly people complain of memory impairment and depression due to the lack of socialization to which they are accustomed. Recall that in Japan hobby circles are very popular, where elderly people used to go regularly, but now they can't always do it because of restrictions.
According to Shinya Kuno, a professor at the University of Tsukuba, it is now very important to create new safe spaces where older people can meet and socialize like they used to.
