Hakone, a small town, has a very convenient location. Just 1.5-2 hours from Tokyo, and you go from the metropolis to a mountainous area with hot springs and, in clear weather, a great view of Mount Fuji!

  • Peace Park and observation deck with unforgettable views of Mt. Fuji. The picturesque Peace Park was established in the foothills of Mount Fuji in 1964 with funds from Mr. Horiuchi, owner of the Santoku convenience store chain. There are several Buddhist temples in the park, including the inverted stupa-shaped white stone Bussyari-to Tower. It is decorated on four sides with sculpted images of Buddha. Next to the Peace Bell, there is a lookout point where you can enjoy a magnificent view of Mount Fuji in good weather.
  • Valley of Geysers Ovakudani and the cable car.
  • Cruise on the mountain lake Asino-ko You will enjoy your trip on a ship styled as a pirate sailboat. The ship offers unforgettable natural views of Hakone. The picturesque Lake Ashino-ko is rich in fish. Its maximum depth is 44 meters.
  • On request at an additional cost - Lunch at the restaurant by the marina (hostess cooks fresh trout on coals).

  • Attendance museums "Hakone Outpost". The museum is a recreation of the ancient structures of a checkpoint (outpost) established on the Tokaido Road leading from Kyoto to Edo (present-day Tokyo). Here from 1619 to 1868 Samurai officials meticulously checked all passers-by. In the museum you can get acquainted not only with the surviving original historical documents and prints, but also with the samurai life inside the outpost. 
  • Paul Art Museum (Pola Museum of Art). The Japanese cosmetics company of the same name erected it in 2002. The architects skillfully integrated the museum building into the natural landscape. Its exposition includes almost 10,000 works collected by the owner of Pola Group, the late Suzuki Tsuneshi. Among the exhibits are more than 100 Impressionist and Post-Impressionist paintings, 3 paintings by Van Gogh, works by Claude Monet, Renoir, Cézanne and Picasso. 
  • Okada Art Museum (Okada Museum of Art). The museum exhibits unique works of art by outstanding masters of Japan, China and Korea. The exhibition halls cover an area of 5,000 square meters. And the museum's gardens cover an area of 15,000 square meters. After viewing the exhibitions, visitors can enjoy relaxing hot foot baths on the museum's veranda while sipping fresh green tea.
  • Hakone Open Air Museum (The Hakone Open-Air Museum) was opened in 1969 and was the first museum of its kind in Japan. The sculptures and installations are successfully integrated into the natural landscape, which changes its colors depending on the time of year and weather. It seems that the creators of the museum were inspired by the phrase of English sculptor Henry Moore that sculpture is art in the open air. There are 26 works of this master in the museum's collection. And in total on the territory of the museum, which is more than 70 thousand square meters, there are more than 120 sculptures by Rodin, Pablo Picasso and others, works by Japanese artists. One of the closed pavilions houses an exhibition of Pablo Picasso. The collection of more than 300 works was acquired by the museum from his daughter Maya. It includes paintings, sculptures, ceramics, prints, coins, and many portraits of the maestro himself.
